Vegetarians: Do you use chicken/beef stock or lard?
It's still the flesh of an animal, so a strict vegetarian wouldn't be caught dead eating broth or lard. The broth is strained off of the meat of an animal, so it's non-vegetarian. Lard is the fat of an animal, and that's DEFINITELY not vegetarian. Most vegetarians (I'll admit to turning a blind eye to this one once in awhile...) do not eat gelatin, as this is also a direct animal product. The rule of thumb is that if it's an animal product that the animal died for, then it's not vegetarian. If it didn't die, it's okay to eat.
