What's wrong with my laptop screen?

My mom was in a pissy mood and slammed my laptop closed with great force but I didn't think much of it. I decided to open it to play some music while I cleaned and like the screen is really ******* messed up. It's a bunch of multicolored lines, one completely black spot and what appears to be a small crack within that spot. Its only on the right side of my screen. Do I just need to shut down the computer or what? Also, the messed up part is over the on that I would need to shut it down (cause I use Ubuntu and it's in the upper right hand corner). So I'm installing this advanced shut down application thing... but anyways what should I do? Is it completely broken?
